2015 NFL mock draft: Bears select Danny Shelton

The Chicago Bears take Danny Shelton with the seventh pick of the 2015 POD Community Mock Draft.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

With the seventh pick in Pride Of Detroit's 2015 NFL mock draft, the Chicago Bears select Washington nose tackle Danny Shelton. Juhsayngul is serving as the Bears' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.

Heading into the draft, the Bears have needs at any position you can name. The most glaring weakness for Chicago over the past couple seasons may be their run defense.

Danny Shelton is a true nose tackle. By most assessments, he's the highest-rated interior lineman in the draft class behind Leonard Williams. He'll immediately plug into the 0-technique and then stuff the inside run for Chicago for the next five years, securing a part of the defense along with Ego Ferguson where, due to injuries and free-agent departures, the Bears have had no consistency over the past five years. With what is now a legitimate area of strength up front, they get the chance to build out from within and into a competent defense.
