2015 NFL mock draft: Bengals select Landon Collins

The Cincinnati Bengals take Landon Collins with the 21st pick of the 2015 POD Community Mock Draft.

Kevin Liles-USA TODAY Sports

With the 21st pick in Pride Of Detroit's 2015 NFL mock draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select Alabama safety Landon Collins. Jdpeterson34 is serving as the Bengals' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.

Marvin Lewis loves to sit his first-round picks for a year while they learn from the veterans, whom Lewis also loves since the Bengals have the second-most amount of players over the age of 30 in the NFL. One of those players is safety Reggie Nelson, and Landon Collins is a great replacement for him next year and the best player available.

Collins may be more of a strong safety, but in the Bengals' system, they do not have designated safeties. Both have to be able to blitz, stuff the run, play man-to-man and cover a deep half. They have shown a great deal of interest in Collins, who hails from the SEC that the Bengals love to draft from, and he can be Nelson's replacement in a year after refining his coverage skills. That is why he is the Bengals' pick at 21.
