In the surest sign yet that the NFL offseason is quickly progressing, the league announced dates for organized team activities and minicamps on Thursday.
In the Detroit Lions' case, their offseason training program will begin on April 20, and they will have three different sets of OTAs. They will also have one mandatory minicamp to close out their offseason program. Here's the full schedule:
With these dates now in place, the remainder of the offseason is pretty much set. The Lions will open their offseason program later this month, and the 2015 NFL Draft will take place from April 30-May 2. After that, the Lions will hold a rookie minicamp for their draft picks and undrafted free agents before team-wide OTAs begin toward the end of May. Then, the team will conclude their offseason program with the mandatory minicamp in mid-June. Once that is complete, the Lions will have a brief summer vacation until training camp begins at the end of July.
