With the 26th pick in Pride Of Detroit's 2015 NFL mock draft, the Baltimore Ravens select Georgia running back Todd Gurley. Alex.lanser is serving as the Ravens' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.
The Ravens are thrilled with the options available. Breshad Perriman, Melvin Gordon and Kevin Johnson were all considered and would have been good value here. Ultimately, Todd Gurley is a top-10 talent and could not be passed on. The Ravens may be one key piece away from another Super Bowl. Their current RB situation is fine, but not good enough to take the position off the draft board. Justin Forsett will make a good complementary back and will likely be featured in early weeks. Lorenzo Taliaferro will be an excellent No. 3 RB and will provide value in short-yardage situations.
Wide receiver and cornerback are needs, but those can be addressed later in the draft. A veteran WR may also be brought in for this year. Perriman's size and speed were tempting, but Gurley's upside as a top-tier NFL RB won out. Drafting need over talent will put you on the road to mediocrity. This is not a mediocre organization. Todd Gurley, welcome to Baltimore.
