2015 NFL mock draft: Colts select Cameron Erving

The Indianapolis Colts take Cameron Erving with the 29th pick of the 2015 POD Community Mock Draft.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

With the 29th pick in Pride Of Detroit's 2015 NFL mock draft, the Indianapolis Colts select Florida State center Cameron Erving. Jettero2112 is serving as the Colts' general manager, and his reasoning for the pick is below.

The Indianapolis Colts have several needs in this draft and have a lot of picks (9) to fill some of them. Safety, offensive line and inside linebacker are choices I took a serious look at for the first pick. My first choice, Landon Collins, was off the board when the Colts went on the clock, as well as Andrus Peat, who I believe would have been an excellent fit. I could see the Colts making a trade up, using some of their multiple picks to go after either of these guys. The Colts do have to contend with some serious defenses in the AFC, so I made my decision on who I thought would fill the best role for the Colts: center Cameron Erving from Florida State.

The Colts had a revolving door at that position last season, and they need someone in that spot who will be a strong, consistent anchor for the line and a great help for Andrew Luck. Erving can play any position along the front, only moving to center from left tackle this past season. When he did, he showed that it is a position he will excel at. He is versatile and very fast into his blocks and is good in both the run and pass game. He will be a starter for years and an excellent addition to the Colts.
