It was an odd feeling when Pride Of Detroit celebrated its birthday last year simply because the NFL Draft was still weeks away. This year, however, it's a more familiar feeling with POD's ninth birthday coming just a few days before the 2015 NFL Draft.
Pride Of Detroit first launched back on April 27, 2006. I was a 15-year-old sophomore in high school, and the Detroit Lions were just two days away from drafting Ernie Sims with their first-round pick. It's been a pretty wild ride since then, and it's hard to believe we're about to cover our 10th NFL Draft on POD.
It's also still hard for me to believe what POD has achieved over the years. We just recently crossed the 50 million page views mark, and I'm continually amazed at how many Lions fans this site has reached over the years. This month alone, for example, POD has already been read in 135 different countries.
Anyway, I just want to thank all of you for reading the site and helping make this a truly global community. I certainly couldn't do it without all of you, so thanks, and as always, Go Lions!
