The NFL announced its 2015 preseason schedule on Thursday, meaning we now know which four teams will meet the Detroit Lions in exhibition games this summer. Here's the full rundown:
Date | Opponent | Time (ET) | TV
Thursday, Aug. 13 | vs. New York Jets | 7:30 p.m. | WJBK (FOX 2)
Thursday, Aug. 20 | at Washington Redskins | 7:30 p.m. | WJBK (FOX 2)
Friday, Aug. 28 | at Jacksonville Jaguars | 8 p.m. | CBS (national)
Thursday, Sept. 3 |
vs. Buffalo Bills | 7:30 p.m. |
WJBK (FOX 2) |
As usual, the Lions are set to take on the Buffalo Bills. And since they played at Buffalo last year, the Bills will come to Ford Field to close out the preseason this year.
Surprisingly, the Cleveland Browns, another usual preseason opponent, are not on the schedule this year. Here's why:
Lions won’t play Cleveland in preseason for first time in 14 years. Scheduling conflicts will postpone Great Lakes Classic for 2015 season.

Instead, the Lions are going to play at the Washington Redskins and Jacksonville Jaguars, and they are going to host the New York Jets. That game against the Jaguars is going to be on CBS, by the way, so the Lions will make one appearance on national television this preseason.
The Lions' 2015 regular-season schedule is expected to be announced later this month. We already know their 16 opponents for the 2015 season, but specific dates and times are still to be determined.
