NFL Network's annual countdown of the top 100 players in the NFL unveiled spots 81-90 on Wednesday night. This was particularly notable for the Detroit Lions, as three of their players landed in that range:
82. DT Haloti Ngata
85. WR Golden Tate
88. S Glover Quin
Tate and Quin both made their top 100 debut after not being ranked in the past. I'm honestly a bit surprised that Quin wasn't ranked higher considering he led the NFL in interceptions last season and made the Pro Bowl. He was outstanding throughout the season, as was Tate, who also ended up in the Pro Bowl. Tate was especially good when he had to be the Lions' No. 1 wide receiver while Calvin Johnson was injured, so it's nice to see that both players received some recognition for their play.
As for Ngata, he dropped to 82nd after being ranked 45th last year. He hasn't played a down of football yet for the Lions considering he was only traded to Detroit earlier this offseason, so it will be interesting to see how his career is affected by this move and how his ranking changes in 2016.
