Lions notes: Cornelius Lucas, Darius Slay, more

Lions notes looks at Cornelius Lucas, Darius Slay and much more.

Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports
  • Cornelius Lucas, who missed the Detroit Lions' June minicamp with an undisclosed injury, looks pretty healthy to me:
  • Darius Slay doesn't see too many differences between the Lions' defense and the Seattle Seahawks' defense. I suppose after how good the Lions were last year, Slay has earned the right to make that kind of a comparison.

  • Earlier this month, we found out that tight end Antonio Gates was suspended for the first four games of the season, meaning he will miss the San Diego Chargers' game against the Lions. Now two more of the Lions' opponents from the start of the season have been hit with suspensions: To be specific, the Lions play at the Chargers in Week 1, at the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2 and host the Denver Broncos in Week 3. (The Seahawks, which host the Lions in Week 4, better watch their backs.)

  • Calvin Johnson ended up being ranked 21st on Grantland's top 100 list for 2015.

  • Bleeding Green Nation recently took a look at each NFL team's average height and weight.

  • Talk about a bad signing:
  • Speaking of bad signings, yikes, Indianapolis.
