Jim Caldwell accomplished an awful lot in his first season as head coach of the Detroit Lions. He led the team to one of their best regular seasons in franchise history with an 11-5 record, and he got them back to the playoffs for the first time since 2011. All in all, Year 1 in Detroit for Caldwell was a success.
Caldwell's approval ratings over the course of 2014 reflected that notion. Things were a bit shaky at first before the regular season began, but Caldwell received approval ratings of 96 and 94 percent in September and October. Those numbers dropped slightly in November and December, but he capped off the season with an 89 percent rating in January. Take a look:
January 2015: 89% approval
December 2014: 85% approval
November 2014: 87% approval
October 2014: 94% approval
September 2014: 96% approval
August 2014: 67% approval
June 2014: 77% approval
