By Calvin Johnson's standards, 2014 was a bit of a down year for him. He did score eight touchdowns, but he missed three games due to injury and "only" had 71 catches for 1,077 yards. After putting up some otherworldly numbers from 2011-13, it was a bit odd to see Johnson barely get over 1,000 yards receiving.
Despite his slight step backward and a notion that Johnson's age is starting to catch up with him, he is still quite highly thought of by his peers. I say that because he was ranked sixth in NFL Network's countdown of the top 100 players in the NFL for 2015, which was voted on by current players. This is down from No. 2 in last year's countdown, but clearly other NFL players still believe Megatron is one of the game's best, especially at the wide receiver position.
Here's a look back at where Johnson has been ranked in this countdown series on NFL Network over the years:
2011: 27th
2012: 3rd
2013: 3rd
2014: 2nd
2015: 6th
With Johnson now officially on the list, the Detroit Lions finished with five players in this year's rankings. Previously, it was revealed that linebacker DeAndre Levy came in 66th, defensive tackle Haloti Ngata came in 82nd, wide receiver Golden Tate came in 85th and safety Glover Quin came in 88th.
