Lions at Redskins: Calvin Johnson gets the night off

Calvin Johnson is among the inactives for Thursday night's Detroit Lions game, as the coaching staff has given him the night off.

Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

Amid awful weather conditions, Calvin Johnson headlines the list of inactives for the Detroit Lions in their tilt Thursday against the Washington Redskins. Johnson's been given the night off by head coach Jim Caldwell. Corey Fuller is projected to start in Johnson's place.

Weather is looking considerably lousy in Washington. The tarp was removed from FedEx Field around 5 p.m. ET. Heightened injury risk could pose concerns for those expecting playing time on Thursday night.

Also notably inactive for Thursday's preseason game is Lance Moore, who did not travel with the team to D.C. on account of his newborn child. We've taken the liberty to include a picture of this bundle of joy. Savor the warmth and comfort of new-found fatherhood, and then check the full list below.

Inactive List:

  • Calvin Johnson, WR
  • Joique Bell, RB
  • LaAdrian Waddle, OT
  • Jason Jones, DE
  • Haloti Ngata, DT
  • Alex Carter, CB
  • Lance Moore, WR
