- Based on these two tweets, it sounds like Darius Slay had an excellent practice on Tuesday, while Rashean Mathis struggled a bit.
Darius Slay continue to impress. Was step for step with Megatron and then knocked a pass away from Tate. He's having a great start to camp
— Tim Twentyman (@ttwentyman) August 4, 2015Rashean Mathis beat deep in one-on-one drills by both Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate

- Speaking of cornerbacks, Crezdon Butler had a pretty notable interception.

- A lot of the focus at nickel cornerback this offseason was on Quandre Diggs, Nevin Lawson and Josh Wilson, but we shouldn't forget about Isa Abdul-Quddus.
Isa Abdul-Quddus getting some run in the nickel today. Lions liked that three-safety look last year.

- Let's not get anybody else injured two days into training camp, guys.
Things getting pretty heated during red zone drills. Just saw a head to head collision between Tate and Ihedigbo. (Everyone's ok)

- On a related note, this doesn't exactly sound encouraging:
Just spotted #Lions CB Alex Carter walking into the facility with a cane. Limping a bit -- twisted his ankle last week.

- He's officially listed as a linebacker, but lining up Brandon Copeland at defensive end could provide some interesting looks on the D-line.
Lions working LB Brandon Copeland as a down lineman today on the edge.

- With Haloti Ngata on the non-football injury list, the Lions have unsurprisingly had Tyrunn Walker and Caraun Reid taking first-team reps at defensive tackle. What will be interesting is to see who remains with the No. 1 defense when Ngata returns.
- Per Dave Birkett, both NFL Network and BBC attended Tuesday's Lions practice.
- I think Lions players are rightfully getting tired of hearing about how their defense is going to fall apart following the departure of Ndamukong Suh.
Lions LB DeAndre Levy today: "Suh didn’t make the defense. We had a lot of guys last year playing their best football."
