Given the way the Detroit Lions played on Sunday, it comes as no surprise that the Lions fell in power rankings across the sports media world. However, according to most national pundits, the sky is not falling yet. The furthest the Lions fell was to 22, which is pretty far down there, but it's not bottom tier...yet.
- SB Nation: 19 (down seven spots)
- NFL.com: 16 (down four spots)
- ESPN: 20 (down eight spots)
- CBS Sports: 22 (down five spots)
- FOX Sports: 18 (down eight spots)
- Yahoo! Sports: 16 (down two spots)
Again, none of this is unexpected, as the name of the game after Week 1 is "overreaction." The Lions will have a good opportunity to bounce back against the Vikings, who looked awful against a 49ers team that many (myself included) thought would be among the worst teams in 2015. The Vikings are ranked lower than the Lions in all power rankings listed (SB Nation: 22; NFL.com: 24 ; ESPN: 25 ; CBS Sports: 24 ; FOX Sports: 26 ; Yahoo! Sports: 22).
Considering both teams came into the season with pretty high expectations only to be hugely disappointed in Week 1, expect Sunday's matchup to be an intense one.
