Injury update: Stafford had ribs examined after Vikings game

The Lions quarterback took hit after hit during the Minnesota game on Sunday. Now X-rays may reveal he's hurt.

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

Assuming you watched the entirety of the Lions loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, you would probably come away thinking to yourself, "Wow! Matthew Stafford is getting hit a lot! And boy, he looks like he's in pain after a few of those." I know I was thinking that; I hope you were too so I don't feel so alone in my thoughts.

Although Stafford had his arm taped up more than a few times during the game, a different injury emerged when the quarterback was examined following the game's conclusion.

Tim Twentyman would also claim Stafford said he was in pain during the post-game press conference. Either way, a chest injury to Stafford would complicate matters. His arm has already been punished enough and now any damage to his ribs could potentially move Stafford towards missing time on a season that's off to a very rocky start.

Unfortunately, even if he is healthy for next Sunday, the next game against the Denver Broncos may not provide much relief for Stafford, especially with the performances punched in by the offensive line so far.
