Detroit Lions send Alex Carter to short-term IR, re-sign Jermelle Cudjo

The Detroit Lions made a few small tweaks to their roster. Alex Carter is on injured reserved designated to return and Jermelle Cudjo is back.

Tim Twentyman is reporting that the Detroit Lions have placed Alex Carter on injured reserve designated to return and re-signed Jermelle Cudjo to the 53-man roster.

Alex Carter had been battling an ankle injury all preseason and hadn't managed to find the practice field since the beginning of camp. Now that he is on the short-term IR list, he will not be eligible to practice until Week 6 and won't see the playing field until at least Week 10.

Cudjo was cut on Saturday after his disappointing play in the preseason. However, the Lions still desperately need depth on the defensive line and Cudjo offers enough experience to be a valuable commodity. Since he cleared waivers, the Lions decided he was worth bringing back.
