Report: Bob Quinn signs five-year deal with Lions, gets executive VP title

Just as Bob Quinn was taking his picture with Martha Ford and approaching the podium before the Detroit media, ESPN's Adam Caplan dropped a report on Quinn's contract with the Detroit Lions:

Not only did new #Lions GM Bob Quinn also receive executive VP title, he signed a 5-year deal. Rare for a 1st time GM to have both titles.

As Caplan notes, Quinn holding both the general manager and the executive vice president titles is quite rare for a first-time general manager. Detroit's willingness to give him that title and the five-year deal shows just how committed they are to Quinn. We've heard Ernie Accorsi and Rod Wood sing Quinn's praise over the past 24 hours, but the Lions officially put their money where their mouth was by handing this lucrative contract to Quinn.
