Former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz is getting another chance in the NFL. According to Don Banks of SI.com, the Philadelphia Eagles are hiring Schwartz as their new defensive coordinator.
Schwartz spent five years as the Lions head coach. Detroit had a record of just 29-51 during his time with the team.
Schwartz has had much more success as a defensive coordinator. He spent one year at that position with the Buffalo Bills in 2014, manning the second-best defense in the league by DVOA. Before his time with the Lions, Schwartz spent seven season as the defensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans. His defense ranked 25th in his first year, but Schwartz had a top five unit by the time he left Tennessee.
Schwartz had previously interviewed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he now joins the Philadelphia Eagles and their new head coach Doug Pederson.
