Travis Swanson was already ruled out for the Detroit Lions' final game against the Chicago Bears. However, the Lions placed him on the injured reserve list on Saturday to open up a roster spot for Sunday's game.
In his place, the Lions promoted defensive tackle Kerry Hyder from the practice squad. Hyder was signed to a futures deal with the Lions back in January 2015. Hyder's biggest contribution with the Lions was three fumble recoveries in one preseason game in 2015. However, he was cut shortly after the game and joined the practice squad afterward.
Hyder has not been active for a game this season, but with Jason Jones doubtful on Sunday, he may get his first playing time of the season in Chicago.
