Detroit Lions hire former New England Patriots scout Ron Miles

The Lions' personnel department continues to undergo a complete overhaul.

Stew Milne-USA TODAY Sports

On Tuesday, the Detroit Lions announced they hired Ron Miles to their scouting department. The move comes less than two weeks after firing their senior personnel executive and longest tenured employee in the scouting department, Scott McEwen.

Miles only has one year of experience in the NFL, but he spent it with the New England Patriots as a scout, making the connection to new Lions GM Bob Quinn obvious. Before joining the Patriots, Miles served as a linebacker assistant for Ohio State University for nearly six years, according to his LinkedIn page.

Miles joins new Lions' director of player personnel Kyle O'Brien as the second former Patriots employee hired by Quinn to the personnel department. With the Patriots now out of the playoffs, more hirings from Foxborough may be coming soon to Detroit.
