We already knew the majority of the Detroit Lions' opponents for 2016. The only thing left to decide was their opponents in the NFC West and NFC South. Opponents are decided by their final ranking in the division. The first place team in one division plays the first place team in the other, second place plays second place, etc. Since the Lions placed third in the NFC North, they will play the Rams and the Saints who both finished third in their respective divisions. Here's a look at all of the Lions' scheduled opponents:
Home opponents: Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, St. Louis Rams
Away opponents: Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, New Orleans Saints
The Lions will play what many considered the worst two divisions in football in 2015: the NFC East and the AFC South. Also, interestingly enough, the Lions will play five of their eight road games in a domed stadium (Vikings, Cowboys, Texans, Colts, Saints).
The full 2016 Lions schedule with dates and times will likely be announced in April.
