‘Monday Night Football’ open thread: Buccaneers at Panthers

Chat during the Monday night matchup between the Panthers and Buccaneers.

NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Week 5 comes to close with a fierce NFC South rivalry. Unfortunately, this matchup has lost a bit of its luster this year. The Carolina Panthers are a disappointing 1-3 through four games and will have to play without reigning MVP Cam Newton, who is recovering from a concussion. Derek Anderson—who hasn’t started a game since 2014—will take his place.

Anderson will face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who, too, sit at 1-3 on the year, though expectations weren’t quite as high for the Bucs this year. That being said, Jameis Winston hasn’t quite taken off like his rookie year suggested he might. Through four games, he trails just Ryan Fitzpatrick with eight interceptions and he’s completing under 60 percent of his passes.

Both teams are looking to avoid a 1-4 hole, which only six percent of teams have historically pulled themselves out of to reach the postseason. Here’s the game info you need for “Monday Night Football.”
