Lions injury report: Ezekiel Ansah returns to practice

Theo Riddick, Anquan Boldin and Laken Tomlinson were absent from Wednesday practice

The Lions were without seven players as practice reconvened on Wednesday to prepare for the Los Angeles Rams. Earlier reports indicated that Haloti Ngata could be out for a period of weeks, and he was absent from practice on Wednesday. However, the Lions did get some good news as edge rusher Ezekiel Ansah returned in limited capacity, perhaps signalling his return to the lineup as early as this week.

While that’s potentially good news, the names who were out include Dwayne Washington, Theo Riddick and Anquan Boldin, along with those who have been working on the sides to return but haven’t just yet (Ebron and Levy). Laken Tomlinson’s absence is curious given the circumstances behind his departure and later return to the Eagles game. However, barring those who are set to be out for a longer period of time, much of this could just be maintenance, as the Lions have been giving many starters Wednesday off in order to manage their injuries (such as Marvin Jones last Wednesday). But without more information, it’s impossible to say for certain.
