Lions injury report: Theo Riddick out, Ezekiel Ansah questionable for Sunday

Ezekiel Ansah could return, but the Lions running back group is in tatters.

Consider it a bit of sugar to go down with two scoops of liver. The Lions have deemed defensive end Ezekiel Ansah as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, signalling the star edge rusher’s potential return to the field. However, injuries sustained in the past week to Theo Riddick has marked him as out, joining Eric Ebron, Haloti Ngata and DeAndre Levy on the sidelines.

With Dwayne Washington also listed as questionable, pressure will be on newly-signed Justin Forsett to carry a good chunk of the workload and salvage what can be salvaged of this Lions’ ground game. However, while Riddick’s loss does put even more pressure on the running back unit, his absence will also be felt in the passing game; Riddick was second in receiving yards among the Lions roster. Along with Ebron’s absence, there will be more pressure on the wide receivers to pick up the workload.

In all, seven Lions were marked as questionable for Sunday. Anquan Boldin and Don Carey participated in full practice on Friday, which probably puts them on the positive side of the questionable designation. More likely to be downgraded is guard Larry Warford, who did not practice on Thursday and Friday.

The Lions’ opponent, the Rams, will be without cornerback Trumaine Johnson, while five other players have been marked questionable. The full reports follow below.
