Lions injury report: Team starting to get healthy, but still missing key playmakers

Ngata, Riddick, Levy and Ebron were all still missing practice on Wednesday.

The Lions injury report released on Wednesday afternoon was much shorter than weeks prior, with only seven names appearing with injuries. The Lions practiced Larry Warford and Dwayne Washington, both of whom were inactive last Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. However, Detroit is still without some of its biggest stars on both defense and offense, with Haloti Ngata, Theo Riddick, Eric Ebron and DeAndre Levy all missing practice yet again.

In the case of Larry Warford, the nature of his injury changed between last week’s injury reports and this week’s. Prior to the Rams game, Warford was designated with a hip injury; on Wednesday, the Lions listed him with a groin issue.

Lions starting center Travis Swanson did not appear on the injury report, which is excellent news as it comes in the aftermath of evaluations on his hand. Swanson was injured and evaluated following a dust-up with the Rams on the final kneel down during Sunday’s game.

Detroit’s opponent, Washington, was without two of its wide receivers at Wednesday’s practice, DeSean Jackson and rookie Josh Doctson. In addition, nine more names appeared on Washington’s injury report, with six of those athletes participating in practice at limited capacity. Two of those players, safety Su’a Cravens and tight end Jordan Reed, were still in concussion protocols.
