Lions injury report: Darius Slay out again, Lawson appears on report

Riley Reiff is also out, but Lions see offensive starters return to full practice

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at Detroit Lions Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Is it possible for the defense to get any worse? We’re about to find out. Darius Slay missed a second day of practice, casting serious doubt onto whether the star cornerback will play Sunday against the Houston Texans. To make matters worse, the other starting corner, Nevin Lawson, was limited Thursday with a foot injury. He did not appear on Wednesday’s injury report.

Up until this point, the secondary was the only unit not touched by injuries. Without Slay, the Lions have few options to turn to in order to stop the passing attack of Houston, and if Lawson is less than 100% the options will be even fewer.

The good news for the Lions is the offense continues to get healthier, with Theo Riddick, Eric Ebron and Marvin Jones all in full practice on Thursday. Along with Dwayne Washington, the Lions may have more options on Sunday in order to attack Houston’s defense. However, offensive tackle Riley Reiff, perhaps the best lineman the Lions have right now, missed a second day of practice with an unspecified illness. The full report follows below.
