Monday open thread: Do you feel better, worse or the same about the Lions?

Sorry, we have to ask.

NFL: Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears Matt Marton-USA TODAY Sports

Not much needs to be said that hasn’t already been screamed from the hilltops after the Detroit Lions’ embarrassing performance against the Chicago Bears. It was a bad game, with bad results that has everyone feeling bad to start off the week.

Unfortunately, I have created a Monday morning tradition to see where Lions fans’ heads are at after the game. Even though the answer seems obvious today, I will continue to ask it anyways.

Do you feel better, worse or the same about the Lions’ after Sunday’s game?

My answer: Much worse. Although the Lions didn’t get blown out by the Bears, I still can’t imagine the game going much worse than that. The defense continues to be very, very bad. That much I expected. However, I would be lying if I didn’t admit that there was a small part of me that thought the return of Antwione Williams may give the Lions defense a noticeable improvement. Only now as I read those words do I realize how dumb that sounds.

The offense is where the real concern is. I spent all of last week pimping this offense on the PODcast, on the Question of the Day and on On Paper. Sunday, the Lions offense made me look like a fool. I still truly believe this offense can be a top 10 unit, but after a second flub in three weeks, I’m starting to lose conviction rather quickly. And if the Lions defense keeps making them play from behind, they’ll never get to execute their game plans anyways.

Your turn.
