The Detroit Lions have been slowly getting healthier and healthier over the past few weeks. Last week, the Lions had five players declared out by Friday. This week, only two—DeAndre Levy and Darius Slay—held that same designation.
And as it turns out, mostly all of the six remaining questionable players will play against the Houston Texans this week. Riley Reiff, Nevin Lawson, and Eric Ebron are all active for Sunday’s game.
Ebron’s return could be huge as the Lions are already getting another offensive weapon back in Theo Riddick this week. Ebron has been out with an ankle and knee injury since suffering both injuries in Week 4 against the Bears. Before both went down, Ebron and Riddick were two of Matthew Stafford’s favorite targets. Though Dwayne Washington wasn’t listed on the injury report on Friday, he is inactive this week, suggesting he is a healthy scratch.
The Lions also got good news with Nevin Lawson, who appeared on the injury report late in the week with a foot injury. Detroit could ill afford losing Lawson given that they’ll already be down their No. 1 cornerback in Darius Slay.
But absent from the active list this week is veteran defensive tackle Haloti Ngata. Ngata returned to practice for the first time since suffering a shoulder injury in Week 5. However, Ngata was limited all week and is apparently still at least a week away from playing.
On the Texans side, Houston will not be missing any starter due to injury. Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and running back Lamar Miller are both active despite being listed as questionable on Friday.
