‘Sunday Night Football’ open thread: Eagles at Cowboys

Join us as we wrap up Sunday’s football slate with a big NFC East matchup.

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys Ray Carlin-USA TODAY Sports

Sunday was another wacky day of football. The 1-5 Panthers may have finally righted the ship, taking down the flailing Cardinals. The Browns looked like they were sure to get their first win of the season, only to allow 24 second half points to the Jets. The Lions fell down to reality, but so did the Packers. By the end of the day, the NFC finished the afternoon with 10 teams having either three or four wins.

But the NFC isn’t done yet. “Sunday Night Football” ends the day with a huge NFC East matchup. The Dallas Cowboys (5-1) host the Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) in their first game against each other this year. The Cowboys are coming fresh off a bye after disposing of the Packers in impressive fashion in Week 6. While the Eagles themselves are coming off an impressive win of their own, handing the Vikings their first loss of the season last week.

If you’re looking for a team to root for to benefit the Lions the most, it’s the Cowboys. The Lions have the tiebreaker over the Eagles, so the closer their record to the Lions, the better. Ideally, the Cowboys run away with the division while everyone else in the NFC East beats each other up and finishes around .500.

Chat during the game below and enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
