DeAndre Levy, Don Carey among inactives for Thanksgiving bout

Don Carey’s absence may prove risky in defensive depth.

NFL: Washington Redskins at Detroit Lions Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

The Lions will be without linebacker DeAndre Levy and safety Don Carey on Thanksgiving as the team prepares to take on the Minnesota Vikings for top spot in the NFC North. The two headline the seven Lions marked inactive for the game.

Levy has been able to return to practice since last week, but was marked inactive on Sunday when the Lions played the Jacksonville Jaguars, and now is inactive again. Don Carey had been ruled questionable on Wednesday with a hamstring injury.

Recently called-up third-string quarterback Jake Rudock has also been declared inactive, leading good credence to the belief that his upgrade from the practice squad was little more than a middle finger to the quarterback-strapped Chicago Bears.

The Vikings inactives are perhaps a little worse for wear. Minnesota will indeed be without wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who had been marked questionable but missed all practice on the short week. Corner Terence Newman, who was listed as doubtful, is also out. Linebacker Chad Greenway, who is expecting the birth of his child sometime soon, is listed as active. The full inactive lists follow below.
