The Detroit Lions got off to a sluggish start against the Chicago Bears and only got worse news as the first half went on. Toward the end of the second quarter, defensive end Ezekiel Ansah went down with a shoulder injury. Ansah was down on the field for a minute or so then made his way into the locker room before the end of the first half. The team announced soon after that he is questionable to return to the game.
The Lions are already somewhat shorthanded at defensive end after losing Armonty Bryant to the injured reserve list last week. In Ansah’s place, we’ve seen rookie Anthony Zettel take a significant amount of playing time.
Ansah wasn’t the only player dealing with an injury. Matthew Stafford appeared to hurt his throwing hand on the follow through of a pass. Stafford did not miss any playing time, but was sporting a glove for the rest of the first half.
We’ll continue to provide updates as we get more information.
