A wild Sunday comes to close with a big NFC East showdown. The first-place Dallas Cowboys head east to New Jersey to take on a New York Giants team clinging to a Wild Card spot. Sunday was a huge day for NFC playoff contenders, as the Lions, Packers, Vikings, Buccaneers, Falcons and Washington all picked up Week 14 wins. If a team like the Giants wants to keep pace, they may need to pick up a big upset on Sunday night.
For the Detroit Lions—now a two-seed in the NFC—a Giants loss would be the most beneficial. With Sunday’s news of Matthew Stafford’s seemingly significant injury, the Lions could use all the help they could get with backup plans for a playoff berth. A Giants loss would give the Lions another step up on a Wild Card spot, should Detroit’s lead in the division slip away. If New York loses, both Wild Card spots will be held by 8-5 teams (Giants, Buccaneers), meaning the Lions would have a one game lead over both teams.
