The Lions offense is starting to struggle. Do you blame Jim Bob Cooter?

NFL: International Series-Detroit Lions Practice Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

We here at Pride Of Detroit do not typically do approval polls for coordinators. We typically save that designation for the head coach and the general manager.

However, the case of Jim Bob Cooter is an interesting one. Earlier in the year, he was being hailed as one of the top offensive minds in the league and was praised for Matthew Stafford’s turnaround.

Lately, however, the Lions offense seems to have plateaued. Detroit has faced some good defenses recently, and they’ve held Detroit to just 17.5 points per game over the last four weeks. Cooter has come under fire for predictable playcalling and his stubborn refusal to eliminate inefficient plays.

So today’s Question of the Day is:

Do you approve of the job Jim Bob Cooter is doing as the Lions’ offensive coordinator?

My answer: Overall, my answer is still yes. Matthew Stafford still looks like a better quarterback than ever, and the Lions are still moving the ball fairly consistently. However, I am starting to see Cooter’s inexperience bleeding through his perfect image. I am not seeing a lot of week-to-week adjustments, let alone in-game adjustments. I’m seeing questionable play-calling. And perhaps most worrisome, I am starting to see defenses figure the Lions out.

I’m not even close to calling for Cooter’s job, but I’d like to see some more growth from the young coordinator.

Your turn.
