Lions injury report: Darius Slay, Travis Swanson, Theo Riddick all miss Thursday’s practice

Because the Detroit Lions don’t play until Monday night, their first practice of the week was Thursday instead of Wednesday. The extra day, however, wasn’t enough for a few of the Lions’ key contributors to make it onto the practice field.

Darius Slay missed Thursday’s practice due to a hamstring issue that saw him leave in the first half of the Giants game. Earlier in the season, Slay missed two games due to a hamstring issue, and Dave Birkett is reporting that Slay is unlikely to play against this week against the Cowboys:

Travis Swanson and Theo Riddick, who have now missed multiple games due to their injuries, were both still absent from participating in practice. However, the prognosis on Riddick seems to be getting better, as he was running with trainers on the sidelines.

Also, here’s your daily update on Matthew Stafford Glove Watch 2016. He was wearing a different, but nearly identical glove:

Stafford explained before practice the change in glove is mostly because last week’s glove was designed to handle the wet weather conditions.

Golden Tate, who took a shot at the end of the game against the Giants, was not even listed on the injury report, so no concern for his availability this week.

On the Cowboys’ side, defensive end Randy Gregory returned to practice after serving a suspension for performance enhancing drugs. Gregory is on pace to play his first game of the season, and Jerry Jones expects him to play Monday night. The Cowboys could use him as two defensive linemen, DeMarcus Lawrence and Cedric Thornton, were missing from practice.
