- NFL.com’s Conor Orr listed the top head coaching candidates for next year, now that there are already a few vacancies. Detroit Lions coordinators Jim Bob Cooter and Teryl Austin both appear on the list of 13 candidates.
- The Detroit Lions have reportedly lost Randy Edsall—their director of football research-special project—to the University of Connecticut. Edsall will return to UConn as their head coach, the position he had there from 1999 to 2010.
- Lions backup quarterback and UConn alumni Dan Orlovsky is pretty excited about the news:

I feel I know Coach Edsall as good as

- The Lions will have to catch up on sleep in a hurry:

- Get ready for flag-happy game between the Lions and Packers:

Boger & his crew are some of the most penalty-happy officials in the NFL. In theory, that should benefit the home team.

- Ezekiel Elliott has a different opinion on why A’Shawn Robinson body-slammed him to the ground.
- Former Lions offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz weighs in on the debate on whether to rest starters or not.
- Matthew Stafford’s MVP odds are all but dead at this point:
