Notes: Teryl Austin, Jim Bob Cooter listed as top head coaching candidates

The Lions could very well lose at least one of their coordinators this offseason.

NFL.com’s Conor Orr listed the top head coaching candidates for next year, now that there are already a few vacancies. Detroit Lions coordinators Jim Bob Cooter and Teryl Austin both appear on the list of 13 candidates.

The Detroit Lions have reportedly lost Randy Edsall—their director of football research-special project—to the University of Connecticut. Edsall will return to UConn as their head coach, the position he had there from 1999 to 2010.

Lions backup quarterback and UConn alumni Dan Orlovsky is pretty excited about the news:
