With the 29th pick in the Pride Of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select defensive tackle Vernon Butler. Edubbnaz is the acting general manager for the Cardinals. Below is the rationale for the pick.
For a short period of time, I considered taking Paxton Lynch and letting him sit behind Carson Palmer for a season or two. He would fit in perfectly behind Palmer, and head coach Bruce Arians would have himself a very good quarterback project to work on. In the end, though, there are a few other quarterback options that will be available later on in the draft.
The Cardinals have depth at defensive end to go along with Calais Campbell but are relatively thin at the defensive tackle spot. Enter Vernon Butler. The anchor on one of the top 15 defenses in the nation last year, Butler is quick, powerful and knows how to cause havoc in the backfield while also leading the way in shutting down the opponent's run game. He will add another dimension to an already formidable Arizona defense.
