2016 NFL mock draft: Tennessee Titans select Laremy Tunsil

The Tennessee Titans select Laremy Tunsil with the first pick in the 2016 POD mock draft.

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

With the first pick in the POD Community Mock Draft, the Tennessee Titans have selected offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil. Twon82 is the acting manager for the Titans. The reasoning for his pick is below.

This pick is more complicated than it seems on the surface.   Almost every single mock draft you will look at believes that the Titans will select Ole Miss' star offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil to add very much needed protection for Marcus Mariota.  However, there has been a ton of speculation after the release of veteran safety Michael Griffin and what that means for the decisions the Titans might make in this draft.  Safety Jalen Ramsey is a top 3 prospect in this draft by most accounts and rumor has it the Titans want to trade down to get him rather than stay at the top slot.  Nonetheless, protecting the franchise quarterback seems like it has to be priority No. 1 for the Titans organization, and I think this wisdom wins out in the end.
