2016 NFL mock draft: Cleveland Browns select Jalen Ramsey

The Cleveland Browns select Jalen Ramsey with the second pick in the POD community mock draft.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

With the first pick in the POD Community Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns have selected cornerback/safety Jalen Ramsey. Seabeerus is the acting manager for the Browns. The reasoning for his pick is below.

Welcome to Cleveland, Florida State CB/S Jalen Ramsey. Chances are you'll be here longer than the front office or your coaches.  This is team that is in full rebuild mode and long-term solutions from the draft are a must.

Ramsey's 4.41 40-yard dash and 41.5" vertical leap at the NFL combine along with his ACC track and field career are measurables that should translate well to the NFL. At 6-foot-1, 209 pounds, he has the size to match up against any receiver.  What makes him attractive at pick No. 2 is not only his ability to play CB or Safety, but watching tape, he can play press corner or zone corner as well as nickel or in the slot and is a willing tackler. This will give defensive coordinator Ray Horton and defensive backs coach Louie Cioffi the ability to adjust to weekly matchup problems as well as in game situations. Although he allowed a 38.5 completion rate, he needs to work on his footwork and hands (three career interceptions and 21 pass break ups). While not yet a true man-to-man corner, he is the most well rounded secondary player and unique athlete available this year. And every rebuild needs to start somewhere.
