2016 NFL mock draft: Dallas Cowboys select Joey Bosa

The Dallas Cowboys select Joey Bosa with the fourth pick in the POD Community Mock Draft.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

With the fourth pick in the POD Community Mock Draft, the Dallas Cowboys have selected Joey Bosa. Thorpac is the acting general manager for the Cowboys and the reasoning for the pick is below:

With the fourth pick in the draft, the Cowboys have a lot of options. It is tempting to yield to advice and draft a franchise quarterback, as we are unlikely to draft this high again for some time. With Ramsey off the board -- by far the closest thing to Deion Sanders in a while and my first choice -- I could see that logic. But I see quarterback as a position best filled by a player who we can mold into a quarterback, and not necessarily one you take ready to start Day One. And I can get that value later in the draft.

With that logic in mind, the Cowboys instead select Joey Bosa, DE Ohio State. Bosa will give this defense an instant threat on the edge and a weapon that can align in really any defensive set, hand up or down. If trading were allowed I would entertain that option as Plan A, but I won't complain about replacing that odd Greg Hardy fellow with a good person who can set the tone on defense. He will be an instant star on the country's biggest stage and would be a favorite to compete for Defensive Rookie of the Year.
