2016 NFL Mock Draft: New York Giants select Leonard Floyd

The New York Giants select Leonard Floyd with the tenth pick in the POD Community Mock Draft.

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

With the tenth pick in the Pride Of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the New York Giants select linebacker Leonard Floyd. Stevew_66 is the acting general manager for the Giants. Below is his rationale for the pick.

I was all set to take Ronnie Stanley with the tenth pick and was crushed when he went at No. 9.  With having the best Manning currently playing in the NFL, I really wanted Stanley to protect him and help the running game.  With him gone, I seriously considered Vernon Hargreaves to replace Prince Amukamara. I also wanted Ezekiel Elliott, but he went eighth overall.  The draft gods do not like me this year.  I will gladly take Leonard Floyd though.

I know the Giants brass are high on him.  The GM went to scout him at his pro day.  He is huge at 6-foot-6 with 33 1/8-inch arms.  After the Giants spent so much at the defensive end position in free agency, Floyd will give them a formidable front seven.  He is very athletic, can cover most tight ends and running backs and is a good pass rusher.  I read he has a high motor, too.  He may not be the next Lawrence Taylor, but he is a perfect fit with what the Giants need on their defense right now.  Offensive tackle will have to wait, as the value just isn't there right now.
