The Detroit Lions made several moves on Monday. In an announcement from the team, the Lions confirmed earlier reports that Detroit had signed wide receiver Andre Roberts. However, that wasn’t the only move the Lions made on Monday.
Detroit waived Austin Willis, placed Corey Washington on IR (after clearing waivers) and signed defensive back Keith Lewis.
Starting with the Lions’ newest addition, Lewis was an undrafted free agent in 2014. Since then, he’s been on the practice squads of the New York Jets and San Diego Chargers. In January, he signed a futures contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, but was waived last Friday. He has yet to be on an active roster.
Willis was also an undrafted free agent who spent some time on the Raiders and Bills rosters, but never made an active roster. He had only been with the Lions since January of this year.
Finally, after waiving Washington back on Friday, the Lions placed him on the reserved/injured list after he cleared waivers. Though his injury has yet to be revealed, it appears it is a long term recovery, and now his 2016 season is over.
