When the Detroit Lions took Ameer Abdullah in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, most Lions fans were happy; the pick received an A or B grade from 75 percent of the Pride Of Detroit readers. Many believed Abdullah would come in and be a force during his rookie year. What no one knew, however, was that the Lions grabbed Abdullah moments before he was going to be selected by another team.

Amazon Prime released an amazing behind-the-scenes documentary on the 2015 Arizona Cardinals on Friday called "All or Nothing: A season with the Arizona Cardinals." The documentary follows the team from the offseason until the end of their Super Bowl run in the NFC Championship game in Carolina. The eight-hour series gives an in-depth, "Hard Knocks" style look of the team, but for the first time ever, during the season, not before it.

The documentary is a must-see for anyone who loves NFL Films, on-field audio and a look at the strategy of building a team, game-planning on the run and the emotional toll a season takes on players and coaches alike. I have already binged through half of it, and I expect to finish it before the day is through.

But back to the matter at hand. The Cardinals had the 58th pick in the draft, a mere four spots below the Lions’ second-round pick. The team was desperate to fix their nagging running back problem. Andre Ellington was a promising young back, but he was unreliable with an injury history. Abdullah was their man, and they had him on the phone.

But as the clip below shows, just as Arizona was readying the paperwork and getting Ameer hyped for a career in Glendale, the Lions were on the line. Abdullah hung up with the Cardinals and by the time they spoke again, Ameer was a Detroit Lion.

The Cardinals rebounded by taking David Johnson in the third round, who actually ended up having a slightly better statistical year than Abdullah, but the fact remains that on draft day, the Cardinals had to settle for their silver prize.
