Saturday open thread: What is your favorite song from all Madden soundtracks?

Sometimes when I’m feeling low on Question of the Day ideas, I tap the Pride Of Detroit Slack room for some inspiration. Friday night, Ryan Mathews shared his newly made Spotify playlist filled with his favorite songs from Madden soundtracks of year’s past. The trip down memory road was a pleasurable one as Ryan had unearthed some gems I had completely forgotten about. You can take a look at the spotify list below:

What is your favorite song off of any Madden soundtrack?

My answer: “Monsters” by Matchbook Romance. I can’t name another Matchbook Romance song. I have never bothered to look at their discography or find out the names of the members of the band. Whatever other music they made didn’t come close to the perfection of this song; I can come to that conclusion without even looking. The clapping, the high hat, the dash of angsty, emo vocals that veers dangerously close to annoying but never quite gets there. It’s perfect, and I will fight you if you think otherwise.

“Saturday Night” by Ozomatli gets a very close second place.
