After months and months of preparation, the Lions will begin their quest to find a final 53-man roster this week. The team’s roster must be cut down from 90 players to 75 by Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. The Lions began Monday with 89 players left, after releasing Stevan Ridley.
The Lions need to be down to 53 men by Saturday, giving some players the opportunity to shine in the final preseason game against the Bills on Thursday. But for a handful of players that are released prior to then, they won’t have the chance.

UPDATE: 11:20 a.m ET: As first reported by Dave Birkett, the Lions will be releasing Geoff Schwartz.
UPDATE: 1:35 p.m. ET: Long snapper Jimmy Landes has been placed on injured reserve.
