Lions-Titans inactives: DeAndre Levy is out

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, but DeAndre Levy will not play against the Titans.

After missing an entire week’s worth of practices and being labeled as doubtful on Friday, it should come as no surprise that DeAndre Levy is inactive for the Detroit Lions’ Week 2 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

The reported quadricep injury came out of nowhere. Levy played in every defensive snap last week and never showed any signs of injury. However, the pain must be severe enough to hold him out for at least one week.

The Lions are in a tough spot defensively without Levy. They already placed their two primary backup linebackers, Jon Bostic and Josh Bynes, on injured reserve before the season began—although Bynes has since been released from the team with an injury settlement. That means the Lions will likely be relying on Kyle Van Noy to step up in nickel situations and use either recently acquired Thurston Armbrister or rookie Antwione Williams when Detroit needs three linebackers on the field.

Elsewhere, Zach Zenner remains a healthy scratch, giving seventh-round pick Dwayne Washington a chance to score a touchdown in both of his first two career NFL games.

On the Titans side, receiver Kendall Wright and linebacker Derrick Morgan are both inactive, as expected. Both were listed as out on the injury report on Friday.
