VIDEO: ‘He looks like Urkel on steroids’, watch Calvin Johnson latest performance on ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Calvin Johnson and his partner Lindsay Arnold improved from their performance last week to earn high marks.

A year ago, Calvin Johnson was the No. 1 wide receiver for the Detroit Lions. For the second week in a row now, he’s dancing on live television, and Monday night, he was dressed as Urkel. The universe is a wild and crazy place.

Calvin Johnson, along with his dance partner Lindsay Arnold, performed the foxtrot to the “Family Matters” theme on Monday night. Not only did I have too much fun watching it, I found some solace—as a Lions fan—in seeing a side of Calvin that he didn’t really reveal about himself either on or off the field. He looks like he’s genuinely having a good time out there, whether he’s foxtrotting and cosplaying as Steve Urkel or he’s “Cha Cha-tron” with an 81 sequined on the back of a dress shirt instead of stitched to a jersey.

As for his performance this week, the judges were once again impressed with Calvin’s energy and charisma. Carrie Ann was enamored with how “so darn cute” Calvin is when he’s dancing and even praised some of his technical ability. Judge Julianne remarked that Calvin is so “cool and easy” but has this “unexpected spark” about him. She went on to say that Calvin will be one of the contestants that will improve each week.

And the team of Calvin Johnson and Lindsay Arnold did improve in week two of the competition, posting a score of 28 out of a possible 40 points. Here’s how they got to that score:

Every contestant, save for Amber Rose and Ryan Lochte, saw their respective scores climb from a week ago, but it seems as though Calvin will be dancing on Monday nights for the foreseeable future.
