The Detroit Lions will face off against the Green Bay Packers for the 174th time in league history. The Packers lead the rivalry 98-68-7 over the past 86 years.
However, the rivalry has been much closer as of lately. Since 2013, the Lions and Packers have both won three games against each other.
The Lions beat the Packers in Green Bay for the first time since 1991 last season, and this week brings another unique opportunity for the Lions. Detroit hasn’t played in Green Bay this early in the season since 2003. You’d think weather would therefore not be much of a factor, however forecasts are currently predicting thunderstorms throughout the afternoon in Green Bay.
Both teams are looking to avoid a losing record this early in the season. Additionally, the Packers are hoping not to fall to 0-2 in the division, while the Lions are just hoping their first NFC matchup ends with a win.
