Eric Ebron out of practice with ankle injury; Ansah, Levy remain out

The Detroit Lions injury report looks awfully familiar on Wednesday.

The Detroit Lions were back at practice on Wednesday in preparation for their game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. With the first practice of the week comes the first injury report, and there weren’t a lot of surprises on the list.

Most notably, Ezekiel Ansah and DeAndre Levy were again out of practice. As reports from Sunday morning suggest, both players are not expected to play this week.

Additionally, Eric Ebron and Wallace Gilberry also sat out of practice. Both players were either out or limited in practice last week but ended up playing. However, Ebron’s injury last week was listed as a back injury. Today, he is listed as out with an ankle injury. Of course, Ebron suffered a pretty scary ankle injury in the offseason. No word on if this is related to that injury.

Finally, Antwione Williams did not practice. Williams missed the game last week, causing the Lions to scramble and add Zaviar Gooden to the active roster. Gooden has since been released, then added to the practice squad. If Williams cannot recover in time for Sunday, Gooden is likely to be called back up again.

Safety Tavon Wilson, who left Sunday’s game against the Packers with a neck injury, did practice but in a limited capacity.

For the Bears, Jay Cutler was limited in practice, which is a big step up from last week when a thumb injury had him sidelined for the entire week of practice. That being said, key contributors like linebacker Danny Trevathan and nose tackle Eddie Goldman remained out. In all, the Bears had a whopping 15 players on their injury report
