10 things I think I know about Week 4: Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears

With Week 4 right around the corner, it’s time to dive into another division game. The Detroit Lions will be looking to get back to .500 against an ailing Chicago Bears team. Here are 10 things I think I know heading into Week 4 against the Bears:

1. I think Bears are extremely beat up. As of Wednesday, the Bears listed 15 players on the roster who were either limited in practice or were ruled out completely. It’s not good to be going into Week 4 and be missing 20 percent of your roster.
2. I don’t think the Lions are much better on the injury front. The Lions may have fewer players on the injury report, but they guys they are missing are key cogs. And unless a miracle happens, the Lions will continue to struggle on defense until those guys heal up.
3. I think the DeAndre Levy injury is overblown. It doesn’t look like he’ll play again this Sunday, but until they put him on injured reserve I’m holding out hope. I fully admit I’m wearing the Honolulu blue sunglasses on this one, so I’m optimistic until someone tells me not to be.
4. I think the Lions score 30+ points on Sunday. The Bears are going to have a hard time keeping up with the Lions on Sunday, especially with the emergence of Marvin Jones as a number one threat.

6. I think it’s going to be hard for Darius Slay to live up to his contract. Darius Slay is still a solid corner, but without a consistent pass rush and a soft middle of the defense, it’s going to be hard for him to be effective. Without Ezekiel Ansah and DeAndre Levy, I don’t think there is anyone opponents have to scheme around.
7. I think Jim Bob Cooter has lived up to the hype. I mean, Jim Bob for President, am I right?
8. I think Taylor Decker has far exceeded my expectations. He hasn’t been perfect, and he’s gone into lapses with poor technique, but when he is on he has all of the tools to be a mainstay on the left side of the offensive line.
9. I think Eric Ebron could have a big game if he plays. He sat out of practice with an ankle injury on Wednesday and was in and out last week against the Packers, but he really looks like he’s ready to break out. If he’s a full go, he should be able to exploit the Bears’ defense.
10. I think Sunday is a must win. If the Lions can’t put away a banged up Bears squad, they’ve got major problems. The Bears are struggling in all phases and should be an easy win. But these are the Lions we’re talking about, so who knows?
