The Detroit Lions cut their roster down to 53 players on Saturday night, but their work is far from done. Detroit will likely tinker with the bottom of their roster, adding players waived and released by other teams, while potential making internal moves like placing Jon Bostic on injured reserve, as Dave Birkett is reporting.
The Lions will also get a chance to start establishing their 10-man practice squad starting on 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. Players that have been waived this weekend and were not claimed will be free to sign with any team, either to their practice squad — if eligible — or to an active squad, if desired.
Of the Lions’ 22 maneuvers to get down to 75, 17 are eligible for the practice squad:
- QB Jake Rudock
- RB George Winn (Could fill one of four exception spots under new rule)
- WR TJ Jones (Could fill one of four exception spots under new rule)
- WR Jace Billingsley
- WR Jay Lee
- WR Quinshad Davis
